They use lanyard to attach their security badges or ID card. Reasonably, I think this action is for strengthen security. However, an article I just read these days brought me something new about lanyard's using in companies. It talks about 4 reasons that companies need lanyard, which are quite interesting and informative. So I would like to share with you.
Safety is definitely the first concern. Employees wear badges lanyard with ID provides highly identification and can prevent unauthorized individuals from invadiong. Once there is anybody trying to intrude into offices for some unknown intention, they'll be immediately identified.

Third, lanyard greatly enhances employees' self-esteem which is a vital force bettering their working performances. When people are always able to say your name, you may feel respected. For high productivity, this is exact what a company should have their employees feel. Imagine, wouldn't that be embarrassing and even hurt feelings when a customer talking to you suddenly forgets your name? The answer is YES for sure. You may not want to feel like "somebody," but at least, you don't want be 'NOBODY." On this point, lanyard can prevent these similar situations effectively.
Off course, last but not least, lanyard also plays an role in employees' unity. It has employees aware of that they are all part of a team and should work together to improve their company.
The four points do make sense and are quite worthy to be taken seriously. Employers might be skeptical about it, but I think giving a try won’t be harmful anyway. Maybe, some unexpected benefits not mentioned above would be gained.
